Spinach Masial Recipe

















Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. spinach 
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 tomato 
  • 1/4 tsp. tamarind extract
  • 4 cloves garlic 
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 Tbsp. onion (chopped) 
  • 1/2 tsp. urad dhal
  • 2 hot green peppers 
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
  • 3/4 tsp. salt

Method:
  • In a saucepan, cook spinach, tomato, crushed garlic, onion, pepper and salt in 3/4 cup of water. 
  • When spinach becomes very soft (cooked well) remove saucepan from heat. 
  • Let it cool for about 1/2 hour. Pour the spinach mix and tamarind into the blender and grind it into a smooth paste. 
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and saute mustard seeds and urad dhal. 
  • When mustard seeds crack, add the spinach mixture into it. 
  • Stir the mixture well and remove from heat. 
  • Goes well with plain rice.
