Fried Beans

















Ingredients :

2 lb. green beans 
3 Tbsp. oil
1 c. water 

1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. salt 

1/2 tsp. urad dhal
1 tsp. sambar powder 

1 Tbsp. onion (chopped)
2 Tbsp. coconut (shredded)


Method:
  • Dice green beans into small pieces. 
  • Mix 1 cup of water, salt and sambar powder with the cut beans in a saucepan and cook until they become soft. 
  • When the water evaporates, add the coconut to it. 
  • Stir the mixture an remove from the heat. 
  • In a frying pan, heat the oil and saute mustard seeds and urad dhal. 
  • When the mustard seeds crack, add the onion. 
  • When the onion turns into golden color, add the cooked beans. 
  • Mix well and remove from the heat. 8 servings. 
  • This same preparation can be used for many other kinds of vegetables.
