Tomato Rice Recipe (Type 1)















Ingredients :

  • 1 c. rice 
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 c. water. 
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds 
  • 3 large tomatoes(cut)
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard seeds 
  • 2 or 3 green chilies (diced)
  • 1 tsp. chana dhal

Method :
  • Cook the rice with 2 cups of water as explained in plain rice. 
  • Fry cumin seeds,mustard seeds and chana dhal in a tablespoon of oil, until the mustard seeds pop and
    the dhal is golden brown. 
  • Saute the onions. Add the tomatoes and green chilies and cook for 10 minutes. 
  • Mix the rice with the paste well and garnish with coriander leaves.
